Placing of number labels

Number labels should be clearly visible on the chest or on the front of the leg. This is to make the participants easily identifiable to the stewards.

Time keeping

All participants get a chip for time keeping. This has to be tied to the shoelaces. The chip has to be returned or there is a charge of SEK 100.

Cut-off times

No skaters are allowed on the course after dark. A rope “is put across the track”.  Transport will be available for the participants stopped at these cut-off points.

Withdrawal from race

If you withdraw from the race, you need to tell a steward as soon as possible. Your chip has to be returned to the nearest service station, where you also get help with transportation to the finish. Please try and use public transport in Sigtuna, Kungsängen or Hässelby.

Services

Medical services, toilets and drinks are available along the course. Please bring your own food and drink. Drinks will be provided at the finish. Please bring your own mug as we are trying to reduce the use of plastic mugs. Drinks are also available in Fribergh, Krusenborg, Sigtuna and Kairobadet in Kungsängen. For further information, please visit our home page.

Medical care

Medical care is available at the starting point, Erikssund, Sigtuna, Kairo, Roparudden, Kungsängen and finish. The competition doctor is responsible for medical care.

If you need medical care along the course, please contact nearest steward.

The course

The course is cleared for the entire route. It is important you keep to the marked course. Here we guarantee the safety of the ice. Stewards will be on duty along the course.

Land passages will normally be found at Erikssund, Roparudden and Kungsängen. Here you need to take your skates off and walk.

Vikingarännet will carry out detailed supervision concerning the safety of the ice along the course. Primarily for snow ploughs to be able to drive out on the ice. We have a rule-of-thumb that the ice should be at least 15 cm thick. We do not check the safety of the ice outside the course. You take part at your own risk. Up-to-date information about the ice, the land passages and other items will be available on our home page as soon as there is something to report on. See ice report

Major cracks (råkar) are very difficult to forsee. Large variations in the temperature increase the risk of major cracks occurring. A special group of assistants from Vikingarännet will be supervising the pass-over places across these tracks. Please follow the instructions from these assistants. For more information, please see ice reports.
