Welcome to Vikingarännet!
Welcome to Vikingarännet’s homepage!
Vikingarännet is organized by Friluftsfrämjandet (the organization of promotion of outdoor activities) and Svenska Skridskoförbundet (the Swedish skating association).
Vikingarännet is an annual event that takes place on the ice of Mälaren, a fresh water lake, that provides Stockholm with drinking water. The race runs between Uppsala and Stockholm, along an old viking route. There are many cultural landmarks along this route.
The race now consists of 6 different classes: Vikingarännet 80km, Vikingaturen 50 km, Kortisen (short race) 20-30 km, Vikingastafetten (relay) and Lilla Vikingarännet for children. Year 2010, we skated all the way into central Stockholm and 2011 to Alvik!
Vikingarännet will run 19th February. We introduce “Tjejrännet”,only for women, approx. 50km, starting in Sigtuna and finish where Vikingarännet 80km ends. There is also a new “kortis”, starting in Uppsala and finish in Sigtuna. Read more under “register”.
